SMED Workshop

GOAL OF THE TRAINING:

Achieve concrete, tangible and sustainable results in terms of time and waste reduction in the designated area. Implementation of a rapid changeover and changeover time reduction method in a selected area, development of a new standard changeover process, work instructions and checklists to bring the area to a higher and more efficient level of operation. After a short theoretical training, the workshop participants will try and master the SMED method in practice. At the end of the workshop, the results of the Kaizen action will be presented to the management. 
During the workshop, a 5S action will also be carried out in the field, which will help to increase the efficiency of the field.

STATE OF PLAY, SURVEY

2. day 

ANALYSIS,  CONCEPT 
DESIGN

  • ­    Analysis of the transition process based on video film 
  • ­    Identification and analysis of sources of loss 
  • ­    Formulation and evaluation of Kaizen ideas
  • ­    External - internal time reduction
  • ­    Design and presentation of developed changeover process 
  • ­    Assigning tasks

 

3. day

CONVERSION, TEST OPERATION
SEITON

  • ­    Restructuring, introduction of measures
  • ­    Training 
  • ­    Testing new changeover process
  • ­    Video filming
  • ­    Implementation of Kaizen actions 
  • ­    Modification of machinery, equipment, layout
  • ­    5S continuation (Seiton operation)

4.        day

EFFICIENCY-MEASUREMENT, CLOSURE
SEIKETSU

  • ­    Efficiency measurement, back-testing 
  • ­    Evaluation of results
  • ­    Corrective actions launched as necessary 
  • ­    Establish and document a standard transition process 
  • ­    Preparation of transition checklist 
  • ­    One-stop training 
  • ­    Final presentation
  • ­    Conclusion of the workshop
