LEAN Manufacturing/Management design, development and alignment of the elements of an efficient manufacturing system as a basis for competitiveness according to the LEAN manufacturing/management (or Toyota Production System) philosophy
The 5 principles of Lean management (James Womack, Daniel Jones, 1996):
- Identify which activities are and are not value-added from the customer's perspective
- Identify the chain of all the activities required to produce the product or service, the value stream and identify the losses.
- Make the value stream continuous, without interruptions, diversions, stops
- Produce only what the customer wants: design a pull system
- Constantly strive for perfection through the continuous detection and removal of losses.
